Where to See Santa in New York City

By Pamela Skillings, About.com

Give your kids a chance to sit on Santa's knee and go over their Christmas lists before the holidays. We wouldn't want the bearded old fellow to mix anything up. A visit with Santa also makes for a great photo opportunity and usually ends with free candy canes and other goodies.

1. Macy's Santaland®

Visit Santa Claus at Macy's Santaland on the 8th floor of Macy's Herald Square. Santaland is open daily from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. from Friday, November 25th through 5:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 24th. Admission to Macy's Santaland is free and digital photographs of your child with Santa will be available for purchase.

While you're at Macy's during the holiday, stop by the Puppet Theater on the 9th floor to see the holiday puppet musical Percy, The Poor Little Penguin® (featuring the vocal talents of Mario Cantone, Florence Henderson, and others). Admission is $3 per person and shows run from Friday, November 25th through Saturday, December 24th. See detailed schedule of showtimes.

For more information, call 212-494-4495.

2. Bloomingdale's Santaland

Santa will also be hanging out at Bloomingdale's this holiday season. Go to Santaland on the 8th floor of the 59th Street store and get a photo of your child with the man in red felt from November 23rd, 2007 through December 23, 2007. Santa will be in the house from 12 P.M. until 6 P.M. Monday through Friday and from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday.

3. South Street Seaport

See Santa at the seaport. The big guy will be available for photo opportunities on the third floor of the Pier 17 atrium at the South Street Seaport from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. Tuesday through Friday; from Noon to 2 P.M. and 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Saturdays; and from Noon to 2 P.M. on Sundays. Guests can bring their own cameras for free photos with Santa.

4. Santa at ABC Carpet & Home

Santa will be in the house at ABC Carpet & Home on holiday season weekends (December 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, and 22-23) from 12 P.M. - 5 P.M. For a special treat, join Santa for milk and cookies (you know how that man loves cookies) and a singalong on December 15th from 10:30 A.M. until noon. Tickets for the singalong event are $10 each, but Santa visits are free (bring your own camera to capture it for posterity).

5. Breakfast with Santa at Rockefeller Center

If your little one has been very, very good this year, splurge on breakfast with Santa at Rock Center Cafe. Visit with Santa and his elves over breakfast, take home gifts for kids of all ages, and enjoy a skating session on the world-famous Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink. Tickets are $50 for adults and $45 for kids. Choose a day and time through December 24th, but be sure to make reservations in advance as many dates are already sold out.

6. Santa's Winter Garden at World Financial Center

Visit Santa at the World Financial Center from December 7-9 and have a digital keepsake photo taken with him. Proceeds benefit kids' charity Project Sunshine. Santa will be available from Friday-Sunday, December 7-9, from 10 A.M.-1 P.M. and from 2 P.M.-5 P.M.
